Got Social Justice?
Are you interested in Social Justice and learning with others with similar passions? The College of Education will be offering (pending System approval) a Graduate Certificate in Social Justice. This certificate can be obtained as a stand-alone certificate or as part of a currently enrolled in degree program. We welcome folks with little exposure to the concepts of social justice and those who want to reacquaint themselves with social justice ideals.
All of the certificate courses are designed with an orientation toward action – the actual “doing” of social justice. Importantly, as well, some certificate courses will be offered Summer 2015. In total, 18 hours of courses are required; 6 hours are part of a “foundations” category and the remaining 12 hors are offered in three different elective groupings. And we encourage students to help the coordinating faculty in further considering other, non-offered courses that could be developed for this certificate program. Finally, there is a “capstone” project that, likely, will grow out of a course artifact and represents the culmination of rich learning in all of the certificate courses.
