Mike Bahr Co-Author on Journal Article
Promoting culturally-sensitive practices by psychologists, counselors, and educators is a primary focus of the work of COE faculty member Michael Bahr and Natasha Smith, a practicing school psychologist for the Howard County Public School System in Ellicott City, Md. Last April, they published an article titled, Increasing Cultural Competence through Needs Assessment and Professional Development, in the international journal, Professional Development in Education. The article describes their work in conducting an organizational consultation with a large, urban school district. This work resulted in developing a successful professional development program aimed at enhancing culturally-sensitive practices by school-based, mental health professionals.
