Tobias Receives Alumni Award
Grayling Tobias (BSEd 1980) received a Distinguished Alumni Award from the UMSL Alumni Association at the university’s Founders Dinner on Sept. 19. After graduating from UMSL, Tobias played for the Major League Baseball farm teams of the Montreal Expos and Detroit Tigers. He served as an instructional leader in the Hazelwood School District, one of the largest in the state, and played a critical role in its stability and growth. As superintendent, he has reorganized the Hazelwood district, revised existing curricula, developed new ones and continues to make a difference in the lives of children. Full story here
Crigger Writes Op-Ed on Building Codes
UMSL alumnus David Crigger, BSEd 2009 and MS biology 2013, wrote an Op-Ed piece on building codes that was recently published in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He recently wrapped an internship with the Sierra Club Missouri chapter where he conducted research on building codes in 12 to 15 St. Louis area municipalities. His research concluded that most of the St. Louis area uses residential building codes that are not up to the national standard. He shared his findings in a recent Op-Ed piece published in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Link to story here.
