Rebecca Rogers, Nicholas Husbye to Provide In-School Literacy Clinic
Rebecca Rogers along with COE faculty colleague Nicholas Husbye are partnering with the Normandy School District to provide a school-based literacy clinic. Pre-service teachers from ELED ED 3337 (Teaching and Learning Literacy in the Elementary Classroom) will provide reading, writing and spelling assessment and instruction to first and second grade students once a week. Students will be identified by the reading teacher in collaboration with the classroom teachers. The teacher candidates’ instructional time will be closely supervised by Husbye and Rogers who will model instructional strategies and provide detailed feedback to the teacher candidates on their instructional designs and pedagogy. The program will serve approximately 40 elementary students each semester.
