September Start-up Series: Building Community in Virtual Classrooms
With so much uncertainty as the new school year starts, it’s imperative to focus on what’s important—the difference educators make in the lives of their students. The UMSL College of Education faculty have developed a 4-part virtual professional development series on creating a sense of community in online classrooms. This FREE series is open to all alumni, students, and local K-12 educators. Our September Start-Up Series will support your goals for designing an engaging, inclusive classroom community. We will also address how to maintain equity and access in online environments.
Attendees will create classroom activities, workshop new tools, and connect with colleagues in content-specific breakout rooms focused on STEM, K-2 Education, Special Education, and Literacy. There is also a breakout room designed for school counselors.
Following this 4-part series, educators will be invited to become part of year-long learning circles to refine online instructional skills and build relationships with colleagues from surrounding districts.
We hope you will attend and share with your district practitioners!
